Nope.

I don't think it's the chip.  I think it's the LCIII being different
about the "VIA2" handling for slot interrupts.  If you're handy with
MacsBug, you might poke around in the MacOS some and see how the LCIII
ROM code compares to the code in src/sys/arch/mac68k/mac68k/via.c for
handling slot interrupts.
