Well, I finally got to the right list? It would have been interesting to
know that mabsd-general was moved... ;-)
Note:I'm totally new to NetBSD and I don't know so much about Unix
administration either. So don't flame me for my questions... ;-)
For further reference, my current system is a MacSE/30 5/105 running
netbsd1.0 (should I install netbsd2.5?). I also have an external 730Mb
external drive and a slow 2400bps modem connected to this.
So far, so good. The system seems to run. Not perfectly, but quite ok.
The first thing I can't do is using cu. I must admit I don't know much
about devices and those might more-or-less standard Unix. I read in some of
Alice's documentation an example of cu usage with device ser0. My system
denies me permission for this, either as root or in su mode. I know I'm
doing something wrong but I don't know what.
The hfs utility is a cool thing. But it does a segmentation fault when I
try to access my external drive. Does the fact that this drive is SCSI2
change something?
Any general info about setting up devices would be appreciated.
Then, most of the info I've found about this project seems to be outdated.
I know it takes time and everything but maybe you could update some of the
info contained in the various FAQs, readme files and other doc.
BTW, dt and hfs really are nifty utilities. Are there other programs of
that kind somewhere?
Thank you all for your help. NetBSD reall is a great project. And I must
have the smallest Unix box in Montreal... ;-)
