Hi,
A few questions that may be obvious, so apologies in advance... :
(1) I mentioned before that I need to update my libraries following errors
from ld.so when trying to run X. Question: I installed the binaries found
in the NetBSD-1.0 directory. Are there binaries for a later version of the
libraries, and if so, can you point me towards them? Each archive seems to
have a different structure... I guess I currently have the binaries dated
around October 94? Somethign like that.
(2) UK Mirrors for NetBSD - When I finally installed NetBSD with the Wittkoski
kernel, I found that I had to get Booter 1.8, since 1.4 didn't seem to work.
However - I when looking for that booter, I found that the NetBSD archive
at demon.co.uk still only had 1.4. In fact, many of the archives seem to be
working on sets of files that are certainly not current by any means.
Is anybody aware of any up to date UK mirrors? Can demon be persuaded to
update? It's _painfully_ slow downloading from the blacksburg and cray-ymp
ftp sites from the UK - that is if I can get a connection at all without
timing out.
(3) Since I'm downloading stuff anyway (by 14.4 modem - ouch!), is it worth
me
going the whole hog and trying out 1.1ALPHA? Has anybody tried John
Wittkoski's kernel with 1.1ALPHA? John - do you know if it should work ok?
I'm using an LCIII, so the Wittkoski kernel is rather essential! So - I'd
really appreciate any feedback on whether or not this is a good idea.
Thanks all....hope these aren't totally dumb questions!
John.
