Subject: Serial Console Woes

My life is never simple:

I've gota booting system which I have attached a serial
box to (I am visually impaired, adn console is not good for
the blind).  Now, when I boot serial console, I see
exactly the first line of stuff:

Preserving 83172 bytes of netbsd@symbol table.

It then appears to freeze totally.
This is a standard Mac II w/ PMMU 8/170mb configs.

Thoughts, I can provide more specifics.
