We use FreeBSD as our development host for the Coldfire 5206e and
5280.  The target o/s is RTEMS.

In addition to the gcc/gdb/binutils mentioned by others, we've used
the BDM library in this project to create some (target specific)
in-house utilities to program flash, FPGAs, I2C eeproms, etc.
