Most of the m68k ports have problems while allocating / deallocating lots
of memory. I wrote a letter about this:

http://mail-index.netbsd.org/port-m68k/2001/06/04/0000.html

Anyway, since I've changed this on my colocated machine, I have not had a
panic in a month and a half.

I thought nobody took action because there was lots of work to do to
finalise 1.5.1. Now that it's out, it's time this gets fixed for good.

Panicing because I have too much memory is just plain silly.
