No, that wasn't it.

I found out the problem has something to do with my external SCSI
CD-writer. When I turn the device off, the booting continues.

Now I have v5.0 running, but a few problems with configuring X.
I will have to work them out next.

Anyway thank you for the help. Now I know how to disable acpi :-)
