port-i386: dropping into ddb w/ usb keybd

Any idea why I can't drop into ddb with ctl-alt-esc from a usb keyboard?

I tried from single-user mode with:
NetBSD-4.99.26/i386 (today's -current)
ehci0 Intel 82801FB/FR USB EHCI Controller
uhidev0 DELL USB Keyboard, rev 1.10/1.04, addr 2, iclass 3/1
ddb.fromconsole = 1
hw.cnmagic = \x27\x02

If I boot -d I get in and can type.
