Subject: Thinkpad T60 mostly works - trouble with wm(4)

executive summary: T60 mostly works, and I need help with wm(4) which
won't read eeprom.

I have a new Lenova Thinkpad T60 (2613-ECU). I'm running
GENERIC.MPACPI with the addition of "foo at cardbus" for most of
what's in GENERIC_LAPTOP. I modified rbus_min_start to 2 GB because I
have 2 GB of RAM.

With GENERIC.MPACPI, both cpus are found.

I set the builtin SATA controller to compatibility mode in the BIOS;
NetBSD did not find the "AHCI" SATA version. Then wd0 was found
(before it was not; cd0 was there both ways).

"X -configure;<mv config file in place>;xinit" works, but on exiting
the text consoles are messed up (large font, only part of the screen
is showing). Someone (who I won't name unless they want to speak up
in public) tells me they have a binary ATI driver working; they and I
hope to get that into pkgsrc.

I disabled the trackpad in the bios and the trackpoint and 3 buttons
work fine.

The big problem is wm0. On Brian's machine, wm0 works fine. The
wm(4) is on PCI Express, but the builtin ath(4) is too and that works
fine.

It seems wm(4) should print the expected and computed checksum; I'm
not sure what's going on but I suspect either failure to actually read
the eeprom or disagreement about the checksum rules. If anyone has
clues about how to proceed with wm0 debugging, I'd appreciate it very
much.

The cbb0 errors below are mysterious. They were much worse before I
set rbus_min_start to 2 GB. With rbus_min_start=3D2GB and cardbus
attachments in the kernel config, ath(4) and rtw(4) worked well enough
to wiconfig -D and see local networks. I hope tlp(4) does too; I'll
try that soon.

I haven't played with audio, bluetooth, TCPA, or the fingerprint
reader.

Thanks to Brian de Alwis for helping me with some of this, especially
in confirming that it mostly works before I ordered one.
