In /libc there are two symlinks, libc.so, libc.so.12 to libc.so.12.128.2
and in /usr/lib there are three symlinks, libc.so, libc.so.12,
libc.so.12.128.2 to /lib/libc.so.12.128.2.
The file systems are being mounted (as evidenced by having to run fsck on
wd0a, etc since I had to shut down improperly). I can't understand why
libc.so.12 would not be found after the boot system start doing its
initialization after mounting the file systems.

Thanks,
