Try running bash or some other app under linux emulation.  If they
also fail you probably have emulation setup incorrectly.  I was
getting the same errors awhile back; I think I solved it by blowing
away the existing /emul & /usr/pkg/emul trees, freshening the pkgsrc
tree, running make update on /usr/pkgsrc/lib/glib, then make firefox,
etc.
