actually i compiled the scsi lines into 1.6.2 kernel with success
and managed to get the stick to work.

but when i got home i found my 2.0 smp machine not happy
with memsticks. this was despite having the scsi lines already
in the kernel.

i guess the 2.0 box has the usb handler bugs and will require an
upgrade to 3.0.
