Yes it was a write.... I see this message 9 times in /var/log/messages...
once in every 10 second.... The server crashed on the 9th try..... Had to
hard boot the server.

This means that block 50331648 of your drive has gone bad.  Was the I/O a
write?  If so, the drive presumably spared the sector out and is just
telling you that it did so.
