Can you run a kernel with debug options (especially LOCKDEBUG)?

I have seen one LOCKDEBUG message with an older 2.0_BETA (July 9th),
however I only saw it between when X exited and "poweroff" completed and
didn't catch any more than that it was a simple lock problem (I don't run
syslog, so can't check the logs). It did not cause a freeze or any other
problem I could detect. I think it may have been after I was installing
some new packages (I do not use softdeps but do have them compiled in).
I do not use NFS, so this is almost certainly a different problem (which
could easily have been fixed by now).
