I use a Frontpath Progear (their older model) which runs X fairly well
with a minimum setup effort.

The driver itself handles the rotation, but I don't have on-the-fly
rotation. It requires a restart.

One thing to check out is that you can enter the BIOS or at least have
a USB keyboard plugged in so you can select which kernel to boot (or
boot into single user) if needed, without doing what I have to do --
pull the hard drive, drop into another box, fix kernel, put it back.
It's a serious PITA.

Lastly, the tablet I have seems to be even less well defined than many
laptops in terms of how the interrupt routing and such really work.
It required some pretty serious tinkering to find a combination where
both the USB and the built-in wireless card could all work at the same
time.
