Hello List,

I like the 1.6beta installer. One thing that I Especially Like is the
option to use existing partitioning info - I hated repartitioning the
disks at major upgrades.

However, I have two suggestions for improving the installer in the future:

IMHO, there should be a warning about putting the root partition on non-
cylinder boundary. I have made the same mistake before, but I still seem
to make it. I used megabytes for partitioning a disk and generously started
the root partition at 1 MB offset. Install was ok, byt the system didn't
boot up. ;-) I think this can be confusing to beginners.

The time zone selection could recognize more keys for jumping to different
places in the list. Like pressing 'E' to jump to first European entry in
the list.

Bonus suggestion: How about letting the user enable some basic services
after setting the root password.. like "Do you want to enable ssh in
rc.conf" and maybe some other things as well. I usually do the rest of
the install (pkgsrc stuff etc) over Ethernet because I like X more than
the plain console.

Just my 0.01 euros..
