Thanks. There is no difference between the 1.5.2 and 1.6 VIA-specific code.
I finally got around trying 1.6 on a machine with a CD-RW drive.
It worked just fine for me, with cdrecord 1.9:

Any chances to try 1.9 ?
I won't have the time to update to 1.10 before 2 weeks.
