True on the Ctrl-Q/Ctrl-S bindings clashing - in my world emacs is not present so I have not run into that problem, yet :)

My main reliance on XON/XOFF is people that insist on buying Wyse55 terminals because they are cheap and the there is no RTS/CTS support in the terminal - sigh.
