1.5.2 doesn't have support for booting from RAID frame devices. It was
only added in NetBSD-current:

        i386: Add support to the bootblocks for booting off RAIDframe RAID1
                mirrors (even though installboot(8) can't install them
                onto a RAID1 mirror yet).  [lukem 20001030]
