It's very much a RAID controler, STD on-board IDE & on-board Promise RAID, 8 
HD's can be pluged in in al. The RAID controler that's the main diffrence 
between a GA-7DX & GA-7DXR (but not the only). Sorry have no idea what the 
support for the RAID controler is on it, the iWill KK-266plus-R is as faster 
than a GA-DXR on SDR ram.

I agree you don't nead the latest hardware but an AMD XP CPU is a real step 
forward from the T-Bird (cooler & faster) and IMHO no point, price wise, in 
going for anything below a XP1700+

Er, he's named 2 very solid AMD boards I've got both and am extremely happy 
with both of them. My KR7A has a memory bandwith to rival a lot of RDRAM 
systems

Why go for an Intel CPU? They're expencive & slow.
