At the very least, you need to create a bootblock file. The instructions
that helped me are at:

http://www.netbsd.org/Ports/i386/faq.html#nt_boot

I have the (mis)fortune of having to boot 2000 and 98 on my machine. My
boot.ini (with the NetBSD boot option) looks like:

[boot loader]
timeout=5
default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(3)\WINNT
[operating systems]
C:\netbsd.bb="NetBSD"
C:\="Windows 98"
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(3)\WINNT="Windows 2000" /fastdetect

Subject: help with boot.ini for netbsd dual boot

Hello,

I am trying to dual boot win2k and netbsd. Any help with the
win2k boot.ini would be appreciated! My configuration is:

C: 9 GB IDE with win2k
D: 9 GB IDE (data)
?: 2 GB SCSI (drive ID=2) with netbsd 1.5.2 (only, entire drive)
The only other device on the scsi bus is a cdrom at ID=6.

Netbsd boots fine with the ide drives powered off (unplugged). With
the bootloader from win2k, my machine just reboots when I select
netbsd from the boot.ini menu. What am i missing?

Thx.

[boot loader]
timeout=5
default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINNT
[operating systems]
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINNT="Windows2000"
scsi(0)disk(0)rdisk(2)partition(1)="Net BSD"
I hope so for your sake commander. The Emperor is not as forgiving as I
am...
