I would configure them at least specifically with some specifier
like irq at least.  The problem being that with the 3com's, the order
in which they appear on the bus, or rather, the order in which they
get attached, is specific to the macaddr, iirc.  So the card you make
'ep1' now, might later become 'ep0' if you replace the other one or
remove it or whatever.
