I've had trouble with newer Dell machines with onboard "3c905 compatible"
Ethernet.  In particular, the PWS4xx machines.

We seem to hose these chips the first time we touch the PHY.  FWIW, we think
that the chip is a 3c920, and so does Linux and so does Dell, but *Windows*
probes it as a 3c918.  Under Windows, it works...
