Ok.. I will give this one a shot. 

In your XF86Config

Try using protocol "wsmouse"
Device "/dev/wsmouse0"
Option  "Emulate3Buttons" "on"
Option  "Emulate3Timeout" "50"

That is what I use for my external and touchpad mouse on my laptop. Works for 
me. May work for you.
