Hi,
I just wanted to add that this happened to me too. I tried a
more modern soundblaster card and a 24x cdrom the other day.
The cdrom had this LED staying on problem described by Mark
above and some of xmmix volume controls and tone controls failed.
I just switched back to my old soundblaster card and 16x cdrom
and then things were fine again.
???

cheers,
Paul.
