I had the same (or a similar) problem on my Thinkpad 570E. What worked
for me was to add

options 	PCIBIOS
options 	PCIBIOS_ADDR_FIXUP

to the kernel config file. That fix also made it possible for me to
use PCMCIA cards in cardbus mode (i.e., without letting the cardbus
controller emulate an ISA-bus PCIC).
