And on 1.3.3 (I use it only with SMTP and HTTP, so there's at least some
precedent for it crashing on otherwise random clients)

I've upgraded mine to 2.8.5 and re-added the support for returning
encrypted identification strings.  On 1.3.3 now regularly complains:

    identd[15014]: getbuf: kvm_read(0, 92) - tcb : Bad address

No problems with this new version on 1.4V, though that machine gets very
less outside traffic (I think)....
