I have just installed 1.4.2 GENERIC on a 16M 486DX2 with a 1M Cirrus Logic
card as above. After exit from an X session, I get no characters on the
screen -
just a cursor which moves as characters are typed and accepted. It stays
this
way until reboot.

According to the 'README.cirrus' file, this is a known problem - at least
for a
model 543x - and the solution is to execute a Linux command like setfont,
runx
or restorefont.

It doesn't say what the NetBSD equivalents are! I've tried 'loadfont' and a
few
other things - but they either don't work or come back with something like
'ioctl VGAGETSCREEN failed: Inappropriate ioctl for device'.

So what can I do??
