I found the problem with my boot floppies...my build tree
still had an ancient set of objects in .../distrib/utils/x_init/obj
which didn't get cleaned out, and caused problems for the ramdiskbin
(it found these objects and used them to build an init was recursively
calling itself until it blew out the kernel stack.)
