I guess I'll just have to get a case and motherboard and see how the DIMMs
I have now fit. I eyeballed a tape measure up to one installed in a
machine, and it looked to me like the motherboard mounting height + DIMM
would be taller than 1.75". Maybe they're just old (and therefore larger
than what's on the market now), or maybe it was the angle I was looking from.

I've also read that the fans that come with retail Celeron CPUs are too
high for a 1U case. Did you use different fans, or were the included ones
adequate?
