1.4 doesn't support clone(2).

You should update to the "suse_linux" package.

That won't help. It's a kernel issue not a library problem. And the
"linux_lib" package is really outdated and complete lacks any kind
of "glibc2" support.

NetBSD-current has clone(2) but the implementation doesn't work yet.

It is. But that is not the problem. Other "glibc2" binaries like the
Netscape Navigator 4.61 or Acrobat Reader 4.0 work fine.
