Greetings:

When Netscape Communicator version 4.06 was released, I immediately
downloaded
the Professional Linux domestic (128 bit) port and installed it onto my
NetBSD
box. Unfortunately, immediately after installing it, a number of bugs became
apparent with 4.06. Small Java applets work fine, but larger applets which
work great under Netscape 3.0 to 4.05, would crash the entire 4.06 browser.
E-mail messages can't open when with a double-click when new messages are
being downloaded. JavaScript that would work great with Netscape 3.0 all the
way to 4.05, didn't work properly. And on top of that, the browser would
easily crash when a new web page or mail/new message is viewed, often for no
apparent reason.

None of the above mentioned bugs occured with the Professional Linux domestic
(128 bit) port of Netscape Communicator version 4.05, which I've been running
for a few months on my NetBSD box. Initial I assumed that that the bugs with
Netscape 4.06 might be due to outdated linux libraries in /emul/linux. So I
downloaded the entire Linux Slackware distribution (from their lastest
release), extracted all of the shared/dynamic librarie files, and put those
files into /emul/linux. Unfortunately, this did not not help 4.06, it was
still as buggy as before, even with the new Linux libraries.

So Netscape Communicator 4.06 is just too buggy for me to use under NetBSD,
forcing me to reinstall my old reliable version 4.05. I am currious if
anyone else experienced the same bugs with 4.06 under NetBSD, if anyone
knows of any specific NetBSD issues that may be causing the bugs, and if
anyone knows of any fixes to prevent the bugs.

Thanks in advance, Alicia.
