That was it.  Thanks also to  Eidnes@runit.sintef.no for telling
me about the GENERIC_TINY, INSTALL_TINY, and the resulting images.
I didn't need them, but it's nice to know of them.  An idle 16MB
SIMM fixed the problem.  What ever happened to the days when 4MB
was about as close to infinite as you could imagine... 8-)
