NetBSD-current works with SCSI, IDE, and ATAPI Zip drives.

SCSI ZIPs have been supported for a Long Time.

IDE ZIPs have been supported (at least to some degree, as far as I can
tell) for a Long Time. However, I don't know how many IDE ZIPs were
actually sold, and it's almost certain that if you're considering
buying one now it'll be ATAPI.

ATAPI ZIPs are supported by NetBSD-current, and there are a set of
patches against 1.3 which will add support for them to 1.3. (I don't
recall where those patches are, though.)

I don't know what "Internal" means.
