Subject: PCMCIA sm card and IBM Thinkpad 755C not working

Hi -

I have run into a problem with a Megahertz ethernet card
model CC10BT and an IBM Thinkpad 755C (model 9545).

The Thinkpad itself is happy with 1.3, but it'd be nice
to use the two PCMCIA cards I have, if possible.

Below is the message buffer from an almost generic
kernel. I config lo0 right after init starts, then
I run:

	ifconfig sm1 media utp 130.228.11.234 netmask 0xffffffe0

I get the "pcmcia0: card irq 7" message, the text on the
screen changes colour from white to yellow, and I get
"sm1: device timeout" errors whenever I try to xmit a packet.

I've tried adjusting the PCIC_ISA_ALLOC_IOBASE and the
PCIC_ISA_INTR_ALLOC_MASK to see if that would help.
Adjusting the IOBASE/IOSIZE parameters eliminates the
sm1:device timeout message and the screen colour change,
but no matter what I've done, I cannot get traffic moving
through the interface. :(

(I've also tried getting rid of the modem card, which
also doesn't work, same effect :( )

Any pointers or tips for debugging this greatly appreciated.

	Sean.
