Greetings NetBSD users:

I am running NetBSD 1.3 (i386) with Linux & FreeBSD emulation on my Digital
HiNote laptop, which has ES1688 audio chip (16 bit with Soundblaster
emulation). I have no problems reading and recording AU files to and from
/dev/audio. In addition, I have put a simlink from /dev/audio to /dev/dsp.
However when I run Linux or FreeBSD programs, such as RealAudio or Doom, that
use /dev/dsp, all I get is this horrible random like noise coming out of my
speaker. (Putting simlinks to /emul/linux/dev/dsp, does not help.) Has anyone
else been able to successfully run RealAudio under NetBSD 1.3? Is anyone else
using the ES1688 audio chip with NetBSD? Below is an excerpt from my boot
messages:

sb0 at isa0 port 0x220-0x237 irq 5 drq 1: dsp v3.01
audio0 at sb0

Any assistance is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance. Sincerely, Alicia.

PS. I've ran numerous Java applets and plugins on the 128 bit Linux 2.0 version
of Netscape Communicator 4.04 professional edition without any problems, and
without using any of the Linux emulation patches previously posted on this
mailing list. Should I still install those patches? And has anyone been able
to get the Calendar on Linux port of Communicator to work? When I run it, I get
a error message in a popup window that says:

    Unexpected error:
    Error creating directory:
