Probably the best thing to do is to try getting a fully custom kernel
   built and see if it works for you.

Well, "hardwiring" ep0 at pcmcia0 seems to have done the trick.  It's
really annoying that this has to be done though.

What is especially odd is that before this "hardwiring" was done,
whenever the card was inserted, the "ep" was incremented, and a new
port range was assigned.  Really weird.
