Is this NetBSD 1.2 or 1.3? This combo won't work on 1.2, because
you're trying to use a busmaster ISA card with more than 16MB of
memory. NetBSD 1.2 doesn't have bounce-buffers to make this work.

However, NetBSD 1.3 should work correctly. (Jason, all your bounce-
buffer fixes did make it into 1.3, didn't they?)

I understand this may be the only equipment you can currently afford.
However, you should be aware that, in spite of the name, this card is
decidedly not "fast". It will be the biggest bottleneck in your
system. You'd do well to invest in a cheap PCI SCSI card (the NCR
53c810 cards can generall be had for around $70). This will make a
large difference in disk performance.

But to get back to your original question, no that won't work on 1.2.
Yes, it "should" work on 1.3. The only thing I can think of (if this
isn't working on 1.3) is that the 1542C was supposedly *very* picky
about the quality of cables and SCSI termination. You might check and
make sure everything is solidly attached, and properly terminated.
