Intel did try to get in touch with at least 3 FreeBSD core members.  I will
be calling them back soon again.  From what I can see, Intel had a strong
interest in (at least) FreeBSD working out a solution.  I know *nothing*
about NetBSD though, but wouldn't be surprised if the NetBSD developers
were contacted also.
