As a related note, the NE2000 driver seems to have
some potential for damage too.
On my system, I get
ne2000_writemem: failed to complete
2 times in bootup.
There is a DE200 ethernet card at 0x300 which is
obviously hit by a number of register writes
before the NE2000 probe finally fails.
I don't know if this actually does any harm to
the card, I use it only as EPROM holder.
(Is it supposed to work now? Last time I tried
I always got transmit timeouts iirc.)
However, I'm a bit worried because this
ne2000_detect() seems quite aggressive.

best regards
