I have been using the FreeBSD binary for a month now. I am impressed!
Not a single core-dump, and all applets I have tried works...

Granted, it consumes a lot of memory, but the important thing is that
it works (I am using the navigator only version). Its hard to believe
that it is a beta version...

I used the BSDI binary before (3.01), but it would always crash on an
applet, cut-and-paste, etc.

The FreeBSD binary is dynamically linked so you will have to fetch some
libraries ;) I have not tried the Linux binary, it will probably work
all right (and it's a final version).

I am using current as of 1 week old.
