I'm about to go and buy a new sound card for my home PC (PP200 with
PCI), and would like to know the current thinking on the best sound card
to get. In June, the FreeBSD multimedia people were recommending the
following beast:

> Gravis UltraSound Plug & Play. The SoundBlasters are too flaky. You can
> get drivers for it from ftp://rah.star-gate.com.

This will replace a Soundblaster 16, and will probably be used on DOS,
WfW 3.11 and NT Workstation 4.00 as well.

1. Does anyone foresee any problems?
2. Does anyone know the differences between GUS and GUS Max?
3. Are there different memory configs for this card?
4. Is the following -current driver OK? (sorry, Lennart, no offence intended)
> gus0 at isa? port 0x220 irq 7 drq 1 drq2 6 # Gravis Ultra Sound
> audio* at gus0
5. Anything I should look out for?
6. Should I wait a couple of months for the Hokey Cokey 2000 to come available?

Thanks,
Alistair
