Thanks, Curt. I'll try a NetBSD-current boot disk and see
if it picks up on the card.

Also , as an alternative method, I had tarred the netbsd dist. out
to an exabyte tape using the box in linux mode. However, the
netbsd boot shell tar would only read the first few blocks.

I wondered if I had a "block size" problem between the defaults
under linux and netbsd.

This is an EXABYTE 8200 with an ASUS SC200 card ( NCR XXX810 chip).
