Hm, are you running the pcvt console (and actually using it)? I run my 
PPP connection at 115200 baud, and noticed that something in pcvt 
(probably scrolling the screen, but I'm not sure) gives me a lot of silo 
overflows. Everything works great if I'm in X though.
