The pcmcia patches prior to 1996/11/13, 23:15 EST (GMT-5) included a faulty
patch to the wd.c hard disk driver (used for IDE-style disks as found on
laptops).  If you have applied those patches, revert the patch to
wd.c and rebuild your kernel.  (It could reset the drive in certain
situations, lose geometry translation, and start spewing data onto
the wrong blocks.)

I've excised the bad wd.c patch from the patch kits on ftp.netbsd.org and
sipb.mit.edu.
