thanxs to all who helped with mi question about my kernel recompile.
now here's another query.  I am attempting to install an external
optical drive (pinnacle micro sierra).  i have an adaptec 1542-cf
controller with an fujitsu 1.03 gig internal drive.  i have a good start
on what i'll need to do to get this combo working (called tech support
at both pinnacle micro and adaptec).  if anyone on this list has a
similar setup and/or can offer any tips/traps/war stories i'd like to
here them ...
