Having got a pc with 16550's for the express purpose of
driving serial ports at high speed, I am a tad dismayed that I'm
getting silo overflows on the system.

What can be done about this?

Is there some kernel configuration that will make things work
a little better?

What is the price and where can I find the the 'smart' serial
card alternatives (preferably Canadian or near-Toronto locations)?

	My setup is a 386/40 running 16550's on a VESA card (w/IDE
controller). The modem is a 14.4K modem running at 38400, connected
to a similar modem on the other end.

Dave.
