Ok, my data point: 3c579 on a 486/66 <-> Sparc/20 over light ether
put: 2909824 bytes sent in 2.97 seconds (980672 bytes/s)
get: 2909824 bytes received in 2.79 seconds (1043315 bytes/s)

Note that these are pretty much the best of 4, as I was not trying to
defeat the buffer cache, but to see how fast the ethernet itself was.

Also, I get almost the same numbers with 486/66 <-> Sparc/IPX so
it's not the Sparc 20's fault.. :-)
