You can change the brightness of your screen by ctrl+alt+{left,right}
and ctrl+alt+{up,down}. If it's not the brightness you want to tweak but
the colors, you can either use wsconsctl(8) or recompile the kernel, as
Valeriy already said.

Sure:
options   WSDISPLAY_BORDER_COLOR=WSCOL_BLUE
options   WS_DEFAULT_BG=WSCOL_BLACK
options   WS_DEFAULT_FG=WSCOL_BROWN
options   WS_KERNEL_COLATTR=WSATTR_HILIT
options   WS_KERNEL_FG=WSCOL_BROWN
options   WS_KERNEL_BG=WSCOL_BLUE
