Greetings,

I am in the process of trying out netbsd/hpcmips on my z50 and have
been unable to get the trackpoint working properly with the 2.0.2
release. I didn't see much conversation on the list regarding the
trackpoint since the 1.6 release so I wanted to check if anyone had
advice for 2.0.2. I should also note that this machine does *not*
have the 32mb upgrade; while I don't think that should affect mouse
operation, it might be worth mentioning (X loads/works but is
sluggish).

I can see from the boot messages that it's being detected:

  vrdsiu_mouse0 at vr4102ip0 addr 0x0b0001a0-01bf
  wsmouse0 at vrdsiu_mouse0 mux 0

When I start X the cursor does move when pressure is applied to the
trackpoint but it does not seem to correspond to the direction I
press. The mouse does work fine under wince, so I know the hardware
is ok (and that I know how to use it :)

I have also played around with cross-compiling the kernel and have
tried to adapt the instructions at

http://www.netbsd.org/~greg/hpcmips/vrdsiu-instructions-20010808A.txt

to my current setup but haven't had any luck yet (for instance, the
GENERIC kernel worked better for me than the VR41XX but GENERIC
deteced wsmouse with vrdsiu AND vrpiu; removing the references to
vrpiu didn't seem to do anything).

If anyone has any ideas or hints, I'd appreciate it. Right now, the
z50 is a pretty cool console machine but I'd love to get X working!
